When getting married in Mexico, couples are required to be in the resort at least four days prior to the ceremony. You will also have to obtain a new copy of your birth certificate as this will be kept by the state of Mexico. This must then be sent to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). If you have previously been divorced or widowed you must also get your documents certified by a solicitor and sent to the FCO. All documents must be translated into Spanish which can be done at the resort for an additional charge.
